Harper Grimm was born August 17, 1907, at Everett (Rippentuck) in Tyler County, West Virginia, the second child of Bertrand McClellan Grimm and Ethel (Gorrell) Grimm both of Tyler County, West Virginia. He was educated in Tyler County, at Marshall College, and at West Virginia University. He practiced law in Texas, then returned to West Virginia to marry Nellie Thompson (Simmons) of Pt. Pleasant, Mason County, whom he met while attending Marshall College (now University) in Huntington, WV. They were married on February 3, 193x in Parkersburg, Wood County, WV., honeymooned in Pittsburgh, and first lived at 1316 Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston, Kanawha County, WV. Harper practiced in Charleston from 193x until 194x, was stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard from x to y during World War II, practiced law in Borger, Texas, and then returned to Charleston and continued to practice law from 194x to 197x, when he retired. He and Nellie now live near Fairmont, Marion County, WV. Harper had both an older and a younger sister, Shirley Margaret and Leota Faye. Harper's and Nellie's children are Harper Granville, born in Philadephia, PA, April 3, 1944; Elizabeth Ann, born in Charleston on November 24, 1949; and Susannah, born in Charleston on November 11, 195x. Harper graduated from Tyler County High School in 1925, attended Marshall College, where he was student body president, and received a B.A. in Economics from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV, in 193x. After a period in banking, he returned to WVU and graduated from the WVU College of Law in 193x. See more pictures.
